本品學名為雙（甲氧基乙氧基）氫化鋁鈉，純物質為白色固體，商品為甲苯溶液，分解溫度是205℃、閃電式155℃，比重是1.12g/cm³。在干燥環(huán)境下可長期存放，不與氧氣反應。它是一種強力氫化物還原劑，可以將羧酸酸酐及內酯還原成二元醇，也可將酰胺、腈或是亞胺及大部分含氮的有機化合物還原成對應的胺。沸點：396-402℃；密度：1.036g/ml at 25℃
